What 'Cher Point?

It is playoff season in the NFL.

But first, it is national championship time in college football. It took many years but finally instead of a bunch of disjointed bowl games there are now a bunch of disjointed bowl games and a couple of national championship games.

I have not been the slightest bit interested in those games because one can come to only one conclusion. No matter who plays whom, it is going to be Alabama who comes out on top. Now it won’t always be that way and I imagine that those games will be a lot more fun to watch and maybe even give odds to one’s best friend about. But until we get rid of Alabama always winning all the games, well, you are not going to hear a lot from me about any of it.

Looking at the playoff hunt by the NFL nothing is very clear. Going into week 16 several things were made a little more clear. In Tennessee land, it looks like the Titans famous new quarterback Marcus Mariota is out for the rest of the season and that knocked Tennessee out of playoff contention. Look for them to come back next season with a very real and spectacular year.

It looks like Pittsburgh will be in the playoff hunt this season.

Let’s take the NFL bracket by bracket and see who has a chance to get to the Super Bowl. Starting with the American Conference in the east division the Patriots are going for sure on a playoff hunt. Their only question was one of home advantage and that should have been answered this weekend. Miami with 10 and 5 at this record could be in the hunt as well. Buffalo will not be anywhere close with their 7 and 8 record. As a matter of fact Buffalo’s coach Ryan has already been fired for over talking and underperforming.

In the South division Houston has made it into the finals and that is all that will get in it looks like to be. Closest is Tennessee and they missed it.

In the north division it is all Pittsburgh and in the west it is Oakland and Kansas City. Looking at all of those teams, which of them can beat the Patriots to face someone in the Super Bowl. For me give it to Pittsburgh or Oakland or even Kansas City if anyone can beat the Patriots.

On the other side of the ledger in the National League it is Dallas the head of the east that is hands down winning the battle unless the Giants can clean their clock one more time. It seems to be only the giants who can beat Dallas at every meeting.

In the south division it is Atlanta so far and in the north division it is Detroit and Green Bay. In the west it is Seattle and maybe look for Arizona. Now looking at the National Conference who can beat Dallas? Looks to me like the Giants and Green Bay.

That’s all for now. All will become much clearer next week.

Oh, by the way, Dallas is putting the fun back into the NFL when one of their players jumped into a large Salvation Army Kettle after scoring a touchdown. It wasn’t the Lambeau Leap but it sure did advertise the Salvation Army. Owner Jerry Jones said that if the NFL fines him, he will take it all the way to the Supreme Court and really make some money for the Salvation Army. Good enough, Jerry. Why don’t you send them a million dollars or more just to get their coffers piled high with Dallas money? Then many people would have lots of fun! By the way, in late breaking news, there will be no fine for those antics!

That is my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
