The progression of the Chinook Sugarbeeters through the 2016-17 season was a steady display of growth from week to week with the team playing its best basketball in the post season.

Saturday morning at the Northern C Divisional the Sugarbeeters season came to a end following a hard fought 54-46 loss to the Heart Butte Warriors.

The Sugarbeeters have proven all season long that they will go hard and compete for all 32 minutes of the contest and did so again against the Warriors Saturday morning.

Heart Butte opened a early four point lead and maintained the advantage for much of the first half. Sophomore Cord Schneider scored at the end of the first and start of the second to bring Chinook within two at 13-11 and following a pair of free throws from sophomore Isaac Bell the Sugarbeeters again found themselves down just two, 21-19.

Bell converted a extra possession for the 'Beeters in points and a tie ball game, 21-21 following a Heart Butte Technical foul.

Sophomore James Christensen converted a pair from the charity stripe to end the first half with Chinook down 26-25.

Bell canned a three ball off a nice pass from senior Kyler Johnson and senior Wade Schneider converted a offensive rebound into two points to give Chinook a 35-31 lead midway through the third quarter.

The Warriors regained the lead but three free throws by freshman Hunter Neibauer brought Chinook back within one at 40-39. Wade Schneider again scored on a offensive rebound and Cord Schneider connected in the paint to tie the game at 46-46.

The 'Beeters continued to compete but for the offense that would be it for Chinook as the Warriors closed the contest on a 8-0 run to take a 54-46 win.

Bell paced the 'Beeter attack with 17 points, Cord Schneider added 10 for the 'Beeters while Wade Schneider scored five and cleaned the glass for 11 rebounds.
