Turner students in grades 3-12 write Americanism Essays for American Legion Auxiliary

Class III Winners, grades 7-8, were First Place, Alaynee Hawley and Second Place, runner up, was Brandy Calvert. Alaura Hawley was standing in for for her sister, but Alaynee is the daughter of Brian and Angie Hawley. Brandy Calvert is the daughter of Brian and Karensa Calvert. Both are from Harlem. They are kneeling in the photo. Standing L-R in the photo are Winners in the Class IV group, grades 9-10. Second place, runner up, winner was Cody Welsh and first place Winner, Jack Harmon. Mrs. Brenda Mohar, Auxiliary member, is standing between the boys. Cody is the son of Kurt and Julie Welsh. Jack is the son of Jon and Shelly Harmon. On the right hand side of Mrs. Mohar is Stacie Cornell and Ella Billmayer. They represent Class V, grades 11-12. Stacie was the runner up winner, while Ella was the first place winner for that class. Stacie is a daughter of Don and Connie Cornell or Turner and is a Junior at T.H.S., and Ella, a Senior at Turner, is the daughter of Adam and Shawna Billmayer of Hogeland.

Students in grades 3-12 were recently invited to write Americanism essays for the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #109. Mrs. Brenda Mohar represented the Auxiliary recently to acknowledge their writing and show encouragement to continue writing. She also presented the top winners of the contest a certificate and monetary prize. Second place winners received a certificate.

She spoke about how difficult it was judging these papers as each one is so unique in its own content and the Auxiliary just wants to encourage these students to continue to participate in the contest and continue to s...
