Turner boys second in Fort Benton, Chinook girls second in Glasgow as season begins

Turner freshman Sarah Billmayer races her way to a school record in the 300 Meter Hurdles Saturday in Glasgow. Billmayer's time of :54.83 eclipsed the old school record she established a day earlier in Fort Benton.

The high school track and field season got underway this past weekend in Fort Benton and Glasgow.

The Turner boys performed very well in Fort Benton Friday fishing second in the team standings with 68 points.

Junior Eddie Harmon paced the Tornado effort with a fantastic performance on the track.

Harmon was victorious in the 100 Meter dash winning the event with a time of :12.0. Harmon then secured wins in the 400 Meter Dash completing the lap in :55.1. In the 800 Meter Run, Harmon covered the distance in 2:10.

The Turner boys claimed the top spot in the 4x100 Meter Relay finishing in :51.33.

Turner sophomore Cody Welsh also brought home gold for the Tornadoes winning the 110 Meter High Hurdles with a split of :19.18.

Saturday in Glasgow the Chinook girls excelled on the track finishing second with 69 points.

Sophomore Megan Molyneaux was a double winner for the Sugarbeeters as she claimed titles in both sprints.

Molyneaux was first to the line in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of :13.73. In the 200 Meter Dash, Molyneaux covered the distance in :28.55 for the win.

Sophomore Kourtney Hanson added another win to the Sugarbeeter total with a fantastic effort in the 800 Meter Run. Hanson covered the two lap race in 2:35.53.

Chinook senior Rochelle Chaffin was the winner of the 300 Meter Hurdles with a split of :52.84.

Wildcat senior Reece Hutton won his first Shot Put event of the season in Glasgow with a heave of 51'9". Hutton is the school record holder in the event.

The 'Beeters 4x100 Meter Relay team claimed the girls title completing the four exchanges successfully in :53.87.

Harlem freshman L'Tia Lawrence finished second in the 1600 Meter for the Wildcat girls.

Harlem senior standout Reece Hutton bound for the NAIA to play football and Track & Field established his dominance in the Shot Put ring Saturday.

Hutton's heave of 51'9" won the event and also automatically qualified him for the State Meet in Butte the end of May.

Huttons flip of 132'1" in the Discus was good enough to earn him a second place finish in the event.

Wildcat senior Tyus Hammett cleared 5'10" in the High Jump to finish second.

All four Blaine County Schools are expected to compete at Cal Wearley today (April 5) in Havre. This meet is one of the biggest meets of the season and will be a great early test for competitors to see where they are in the field.
