'Beeter golfers set to take Boys and Girls teams to State C in Seely

Senior Tate Niederegger punched his ticket to the State C Golf Tournament in Seeley this past Friday after firing a round of 99 in Harlem. Niederegger will join senior Kade Friede and junior Jacob Huckabee on the Sugarbeeter boys state roster.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters picked up the final component of their State C Tournament Golf Team this past weekend as senior Tate Niederegger shot a qualifying score of 99 in Harlem on Friday.

Head Coach Mike Seymour now has three boys and four girls entered into the State C Tournament which will be played in Seeley May 15 -17.

Joining Niederegger on the boys team will be senior Kade Friede and junior Jacob Huckabee. The girls lineup includes junior Carrie Hofer, sophomore Ashley MacLeod and seniors Kelsey Mathon and Charlie Anderson.

This past Friday and Saturday the team competed in Harlem and Chinook.

Friday senior Kade Friede won the boys individual title with a round of 85. Saturday Friede went out in 43 and came in with a 39 to finish with a 82 and win his home course tournament by four strokes.

Junior Carrie Hofer won another individual title Friday in Harlem by shooting a season low 92 to win the girls title by eight strokes.

Saturday in Chinook it was sophomore Ashley MacLeod winning the girls title after posting a 45-50 95. Hofer was one shot back with a 46-50 96 to finish second.

Junior Carrie Hofer, sophomore Ashley MacLeod, senior Charlie Anderson, senior Trevor Reid, junior Tamer Jamieson, junior Jacob Huckabee and senior Kade Friede.

The boys won the Chinook Tournament with a 289 while the girls finished one stroke back of Poplar with a 310.

Senior Tate Niederegger qualified for the State C Friday in Harlem with a 99 which was also good for seventh place in the individual race.

Junior Jacob Huckabee was tenth with a 105.

For the girls in Harlem it was Charlie Anderson finishing sixth with a round of 114 and Ashley MacLeod seventh with a 122.

In Chinook the boys had four medalist. In addition to Friede, Huckabee finished fifth with a round of 102 while senior Trevor Reid was seventh with a 105. Junior tamer Jamieson was one spot back in eighth with a 108.

Senior Charlie Anderson won a chip off to medal with a tenth place finish after posting a round of 119.

The team was in Seeley Tuesday to familiarize themselves with the course prior to competing in the state C May 15-17.
