Chinook girls and boys 2nd at District 9C Track & Field Meet, Northern C Thursday

: Senior Rochelle Chaffin ran a spectacular race at the District 9C Track in Field meet in Havre last Wednesday. Chaffin won the 300 Meter Hurdle race with a strong finish breaking the tape in :48.21. Chaffin also won the Triple Jump and finished third in the 200 Meter Dash for the Sugarbeeters.

The Chinook Sugarbeeter Track and Field teams were in top form last Wednesday at the District 9C Track and Field meet in Havre last Wednesday.

The boys team finished second with 104 points while the girls earned a runner up finish as well scoring 141 points on the day. The Sugarbeeters compiled a full list of event winners over the course of the day.

Sophomore Megan Molyneaux captured both the 100 and 200 Meter sprints winning the 100 in :12.97 and the 200 in a personal best :26.47. Molyneaux's effort in the 200 also qualified her for the State C in Laurel, she is already qualified in the 100 Meter Dash.

Sophomore Kourtney Hanson covered the middle distances for the Sugarbeeters. Hanson ran a stunning 800 Meter race overtaking the leader in the final 50 meters to win the event in a personal best time of 2:26.59. Hanson also ran a solid 1,600 meter race finishing second with a time of 6:00.24.

Senior Rochell Chaffin also captured the top spot on the podium with a win int the 300 Meter Hurdles. Chaffin leaned just enough at the finish to win the event with a time of :48.21. Chaffin wasn't done standing on top the medal stand as she also won the Triple Jump with a mark of 32'0"

Hanson, Molyneaux, Chaffin and junior Jaye Anderson comprised the 'Beeters 4x100 Meter relay team and completed the four exchanges in :51.57 to finish second in the event. The team is already qualified for the State C in the event.

Freshman Raynee Hassler won the 3,200 Meter race with a time of 13:26.80 and will also compete at the Northern C in the 1,600 Meter Run after finishing third Wednesday.

Senior Brooke Elliot led the 'Beeter girls in the field qualifying or the Northern C in all three events. Elliot is already qualified for the State C in both the Shot Put and the Javelin.

At the District 9 C Elliot finished second in the Javelin and third in both the Shot Put and the Discus.

Sophomore Kourtney Hanson ran a impressive 800 Meter Race last Wednesday winning the event in a time of 2:26.59. Hanson led much of the race then was past with 300 Meters left before turning on the jets down th e stretch to record a personal best time in the event.

Sophomore Rachel Gunderson will also compete in Great Falls after finishing third in the Javelin and fifth in the Discus. Anderson will also compete in the Long Jump, the 400 Meter Run, and the 100 Meter Dash. Sophomore Lincy Johnson rounds out the girls roster earning a trip to the Northern C in the Triple Jump. Johnson, Hanson, Chaffin and Anderson will also compete in the Long Relay.

Senior Wade Schneider was the winner of the Shot Put with a heave of 42'5.5". Wade also finished second in the Javelin and third in the Discus.

Senior Kyler Johnson finished second in both the 1,600 and 3,200 Meter races and will also compete in the 800 Meter run and the Triple Jump. Sophomore Cord Schneider earned a trip to the Northern C in the Discus, Shot Put, High Jump and Javelin.

Also competing for the 'Beeters will be sophomore Trajan Hannum in the 800 Meter Run, sophomore Ross Reid in the 300 Meter Hurdles and junior Steve Mulonet in the Long Jump. The 'Beeters also qualified both relays which will allow freshman J.T. Hauer and Josh Gillett to compete at the Northern C Divisional.
