May 31, 2017

Chinook High School Class of 2017 received their Diplomas at a ceremony held in the Floyd Bowen Gymnasium on Sunday May 21, 2017. A total of 33 students were congratulated by the Board of Trustees as they walked across the stage and flipped their tassels after receiving their Diploma.

The Class of 2017 had three Valedictorians: Erika Anderson, Kyler Johnson and Rochelle Chaffin. Their Class Motto “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” -- Dr. Seuss.

The guest speaker was Patricia Gillen, who addressed the class as they head their separate ways in the world and offered them words of advice and encouragement.

Following the ceremony the community embraced the graduates at the High School before heading to various graduation celebrations all over town. Some graduates had previously held parties on Friday and Saturday.

Now the juniors become seniors, the sophomores become juniors and so on, and the countdown for the Class of 2018 has begun.
