There is still time to join the summer reading program “Build a Better World.” Children are encouraged to keep reading to avoid the “summer slump” and to earn prizes as they build their reading skyscraper in the Library City. The Read to Me program for infants-preschoolers with parents/caregivers meets on Tuesdays at 10 A.M. The Reading Club for students in grades K-6 is held on Thursdays at 1 P.M. Lego Club meets on Thursdays at 6 P.M. Adults can play the “Letter by Letter” game for a chance to win a $50 gift card at the end of the summer. Come hang out at the library. It’s a cool place to be!

I hope you are keeping up with the 2017 Reading Challenge to read 52 books this year! Let the library know when you have read four books this month so your name may be entered to win a $10 gift certificate from a local business.

“The Wages of Sin” is a new novel by Kaite Welsh. Sarah Gilchrist leaves her troubled past in London to attend the University of Edinburgh’s medical school the first year it admitted women in 1892. Determined to overcome the many barriers facing a woman in her position Sarah turns to a charitable hospital for additional training. There the body of a prostitute who was one of Sarah’s patients turns up on the dissecting table. Sarah seeks to find out what happened to Lucy and is drawn into the seedy underworld of bribery, brothels, and body snatchers.

Robyn Carr’s new Sullivan’s Crossing novel is “Any Day Now.” Sierra Jones is looking to put her troubled past behind her. She thinks a stay with her brother Cal and his new wife, Maggie, at Sullivan’s Crossing campground will help her get back on her feet. But when her past catches up with her it is a special man and an adorable puppy who give her the strength to fight for a brighter future.

“Dragon Teeth” is written by Michael Crichton. The year is 1876. Into the Wild West two rival paleontologists, Othniel Charles Marsh and Edward Drinker Cope, venture hunting for dinosaur fossils in what will become known as the Bone Wars. Into this rugged territory young Yale student William Johnson joins Marsh determined to win a bet and survive a summer in the West. But paranoid Marsh soon abandons Johnson convinced he is a spy for Cope. When Johnson joins Cope and makes a historic discovery new dangers await.

Two new health books are “Menopause Confidential” by Tara Allmen, MD; and “Diet Right for Your Personality Type” by Jen Widerstrom.

Sara Paretsky’s latest is “Fallout.” Partetsky takes readers to the first case investigator V.I. Warshawski had outside of Chicago. A vanished film student and a fading Hollywood star takes Vic to Kansas. Hoping to find the key to present mysteries she instead uncovers more puzzles and more dead bodies.

A new Inspector Ian Rutledge mystery by Charles Todd is “Racing the Devil.” “Fast and Loose” is the latest Stone Barrington novel by Stuart Woods.
