David Norman Mosser, 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Billings, on July 10, 2017. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many.
Dave was born in Havre on Oct. 10, 1952. He was the son of Norman and Marietta (Chapman) Mosser of Chinook, and brother to Douglas Mosser. He was active in boy scouts, football, wrestling, choir and band. Dave graduated from Chinook High School as a proud Sugarbeeter in 1971. He attended Montana State University – Bozeman, where he received a master's degree in Civil Engineering. This is where he also met the love of his life, Susan Noble, on a blind date. They were married on Aug. 28, 1976, and celebrated their 40th anniversary in Ireland this past year.
Shortly after their marriage, Dave took a job in Billings with HKM Engineering as a Civil Engineer. Dave and Sue were blessed in 1978 with the birth of their twins, Nichole and Donovan Mosser. Within a few months, they moved into their home on Sahara Drive, where lifelong friendships with a group of families, also just starting their lives together, began. In 1983, Dave started a 31-year career at Morrison Maierle as a wastewater Civil Engineer. He traveled across the southeastern part of Montana, developing lifelong bonds with colleagues and clients around the state. In 1999, Dave transferred within Morrison Maierle to the Phoenix office, where Dave and Sue fell in love with the Arizona lifestyle and made their home until 2008.
Before their return to Montana, Dave's first grandson was born in 2007 with three granddaughters to follow over the next five years. All throughout life, Dave's most prized possessions were family. He would often be found playing with the grandchildren, whether it was board games, golf, movies, or pillow fights. Dave loved barbecues and gatherings with family and friends. He also had a passion for traveling. One of Dave's greatest enjoyments in life was to golf. It all started on the sand greens at the Chinook Golf Club. His love for the game grew with him and he was proud to share this tradition with his family, as this was another way to create relationships and lasting memories.
Dave was honored by the Billings Engineering Society as Engineer of the Year. This award was a highlight for Dave as he was celebrated a lifelong dedication to his profession. Dave's last three years before his retirement in 2016 were spent at KLJ, completing a never-ending passion of engineering, mentoring and service to the city of Billings and the states of Montana and Arizona.
Dave is survived by his wife, Sue of Billings; daughter Nichole (Jason) Walker of Anchorage, AK; son Donovan (Heather) of Billings; his beloved grandchildren Isaac and Hadley Mosser, Ayla and Audrey Walker; mother Marietta of Chinook; and brother Douglas of Chinook. David was preceded in death by his father, Norman Mosser Jr., in 2012.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, at the King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4125 Grand Ave., in Billings, with a celebration of life to follow. Interment of ashes will be held at a private family ceremony in the Chinook Cemetery.
