What 'cher point?

There were many wins and losses in football this last weekend.

Great Falls Central really took the Thunderbirds to task, beating them 64 to 6. That led Central to a 3 and 0 record and a look of a winner in class C. Cascade beat Chinook and Laurel beat Havre. The Chinook score was 40 to 20 and Laurel beat Havre 42 to 21. I did not get a Harlem football score at press time but I saw that Harlem lost to Box Elder in volleyball.

In the Frontier League Rocky beat Carroll 40 to 14. Talk about decisive. It was Rocky’s first win against Carroll since 2000.

Northern lost to Montana Tech in Havre. Got trounced really by a score of 70 to 27.

And in the Big Sky league, the Griz went to Washington and they got trounced as well. That score was 63 to 7. The Bobcats lost to South Dakota State 31 to 27.

I did manage to watch the first official NFL game on Thursday night when the Patriots played Kansas City at home. You know looking at the stats as I remember them. I don’t think that the Patriots won a single pregame in their pregame schedule. Well, gentle readers, as Tom Brady and the crew marched down the field and got a touchdown on the first series of the game, it looked like the Patriots of last year, all the time commentators were bragging on how the Patriots pulled a game out to win the Super Bowl last year.

Well, that was the last touchdown that the Patriots made during that game. The Chiefs won 42 to 27.

At press time I do not know if the Seahawks beat the Packers or not but if they did, they would be well on the way for a very good season this year.

How about some picks for next week? I do not have a good NFL schedule for picks so will start my NFL picks next week. Meanwhile here are some for our local teams.

In the Frontier Conference Northern plays Carroll. Let’s give that win to Carroll. I do think that Northern will get better as the season goes on, just not yet.

Rocky plays Montana Tech. I don’t think that Rocky is up to beating Montana Tech quite yet.

Montana State is open this week. And over in Missoula Grizzly country Montana plays Savannah State and wins.

Havre plays Belgrade and loses. Harlem plays Cut Bank and loses, Chinook plays Fort Benton and wins and the Thunderbirds play Box Elder. Let’s give that win to the Thunderbirds.

That’s my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
