Blaine County Library

September 20, 2017

The Blaine County Library Board will hold their regular monthly meeting Wednesday September 27, 2017. Banned Books week is September 24-30, 2017. Plan to stop in and checkout a banned book!

We have several non-fiction books ready for checkout this week. From America’s Test Kitchen, we have “The Complete Make-Ahead Cookbook” with 500 recipes ranging from appetizers to desserts. “Killing England” by Bill O’Reilly details the brutal struggle for American Independence. “How to be Happy at Work” by Annie McKee is based on extensive research and decades of experience with leaders. This book reveals that people must have three essential elements in order to be happy at work: A sense of purpose and a chance to contribute something bigger than themselves; A vision that is powerful and personal, creating a real sense of hope; and resonant, friendly relationships.

We have a number of bestsellers available this week. “A Legacy of Spies” by John Le Carre, “Proof of Life” by J.A. Jance, “Secrets in Death” by J.D. Robb, “The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye” by David Lagercrantz, a Lisbeth Salander novel. “Love and Other Stories” is the new novel by Montana author, Jamie Ford.

Wednesday movies are showing again! The Choice will be the movie today at 1:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. It is rated PG-13 and running time is 1 hour and 41 minutes. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas will be September 27th. We will be showing the movies with closed captioning whenever possible. Hopefully this will encourage those who may have difficulties hearing the movies to attend.

We are now able to turn on patron history in our catalog. If you are one of those patrons who wish we could tell you what you already read, this is a feature you will love. Any patron who wants this feature turned on, just needs to let us know and we will take care of it! Another service available at the library is Shoutbomb. Shoutbomb is a great service that patrons can sign up for and it will alert you via text message when you have an item about due or overdue. This service also enables you to renew items if there are no holds. If you are a patron who could benefit from this service, follow the link on our website and sign up! For all patrons who enjoy audio books or eBooks, we have MontanaLibrary2Go. This service allows patrons to download audio and eBooks to portable devices or home computers. Follow the link on our website to learn how to use this service. The best part is all of these services are paid for from our budget and they are free to our patrons! If you have any questions or need help with any of these services, just give us a call or stop in with your device and we will be glad to help you.

From “Life’s Little Instruction Book” #459 Don’t use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
