The first in the three-part series “End of Life Planning and Preparation” will take place Mon., Oct. 16, 7 P.M. at the Harlem Senior Center. The focus of this presentation will be legal and financial concerns. These presentations are sponsored by the Harlem Senior Center and the Harlem Public Library.

“The Drifter” by Nicholas Petrie introduces Peter Ash, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, who suffers from post-traumatic stress that forces him to seek refuge in the solitude of the mountains. When a friend from the Marines commits suicide, Peter returns to give help to the man’s wife. But an unexpected discovery of a suitcase filled with cash and explosives leads to a plot far larger than Peter could have imagined.

Janelle Brown has written “Watch Me Disappear.” Beautiful Berkley mom, Billie Flanagan, vanishes while on a solo hike in Desolation Wilderness. Her husband, Jonathan, resorts to drinking while he writes a memoir of their marriage. Teenage daughter, Olive, grows remote until she starts having strange visions about her mother. When Jonathan uncovers secrets from Billie’s past, he and Olive embark on a quest for the truth.

Alice and Jake are a picture-perfect newlywed couple. To ensure their marriage stays happy and intact they join a group called The Pact. The goal of The Pact seems simple and most of their rules make sense, except the one that warns them never to mention The Pact to anyone. All goes well until one of them breaks the rules. Alice and Jake are about to realize the marriage of their dreams is about to become their worst nightmare. Don’t miss “The Pact” by Michelle Richmond.

The latest Rizzoli and Isles thriller is “I Know a Secret” by Tess Gerritsen. Philippa Gregory’s newest novel is “The Last Tudor.” “Dead to Begin With” is a Dan Rhodes mystery by Bill Crider. Heather Graham brings a new Krewe of Hunters novel called “Dark Rites.”

The next regular meeting of the Harlem Library Board of Trustees is Oct. 25 at 4:15 P.M.
