What 'cher point?

Talk about six man football. When Big Sandy beat Richie/Lambert last week it put them in line for quarter finals next week when they will be playing at Bridger. By the way that Big Sandy vs. Richie score was 55 to 32. Meanwhile Bridger beat Missoula Valley Christian 66 to 0.

The Big Sky League did not go the way I wanted it to go at all this weekend. It was fine that the Bobcats beat Idaho State Colorado 28 to 14 on Saturday afternoon and it was a good game to watch. But then the Grizzlies went bad and Weber State beat them 41 to 27. There were five turnovers by the Griz. Not a good showing at all.

Much better showing when Rocky beat 11th ranked Montana Tech on a one second field goal making the ending score 30 to 27. Way to go Rocky!

Northern lost to Carroll 59 to 7 and earlier in the week they lost their coach who resigned after that humiliating defeat last week. Coach Aaron Christensen has been Northern’s coach for the last three years and it certainly was time that he went. It looks like Northern can only do better than Christensen and the team is backed up by Chancellor Greg Kegel who said, “We want the MSU Northern football team to become a power house in the Frontier Conference.”

Let’s look at the top and bottom of the NFL this week. In the American Conference tops include New England and Pittsburgh both having won five games before this last weekend. In the National Conference it is Philadelphia with six games before this weekend and and Minnesota and the Rams with five each. Bottoms are San Francisco who has not yet won a game to this weekend, Chicago and Tampa. Other low downs include Cleveland and the Giants. Cleveland is the other team who has yet to win a game.

So, how about some predictions.

Big Sandy beats Bridger in the battle of the B’s.

The Griz beat Northern Arizona and the Bobcats beat Kennesaw State.

Rocky beats Eastern Oregon in a stunner game and Northern loses to Southern Oregon although hold on, they could win that one but just barely.

In Week nine, the mighty NFL looks on Thursday night to have the Bills beating the Jets.

On Sunday it is the Texans over the Colts, the Jaguars over the Bengals and the Jags over the Buccaneers.

It is the Falcons over the Panthers, the Eagles over the Broncos and the Ravens over the Titans.

It is the Cards over the 49ers, the Seahawks over the Redskins and the Chiefs over the Cowboys. Sunday night it is the Dolphins over the Raiders and on Monday night it is Lions over the Packers.

That’s my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
