A great big thank you to everyone who supported the 5th Annual Wine and Cheese Holiday Fundraiser. A special thank you to the Friends of the Library, the donors of auction items and door prizes, local businesses who made donations, everyone who brought refreshments, and to Kim Hansen for assisting as auctioneer. A special note of appreciation to all who attended and donated to the auction and 50/50 raffle.

The 2017 Reading Challenge is almost over. If you have read 4 books in the month of December let the library know and your name will be entered to win a gift certificate from a local business. If you have read 52 (or more!) books this year contact the library. You may win a fabulous gift basket which includes a $25 gift card. Thanks to everyone who participated!

The Christmas Book Tree is full of holiday reading selections. Stop by and pick up several for your seasonal reading pleasure.

New titles this week include “Sisters First: Stories from our Wild and Wonderful” life by Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush, former first daughters of President George and Laura Bush. Another biography is “Dare Not Linger: The Presidential Years” by Nelson Mandela and Mandla Langa.

John Sandford’s latest novel is “Deep Freeze.” Virgil Flowers is back in Trippton, Minnesota, investigating the death of a women who’s frozen body has been found in a block of ice. The death may be connected to a high school class of twenty-five years ago so Flowers must dig deep into traumas, feuds, and bad blood. As he digs deeper he learns what they say is true: high school is murder.

Science fiction fans will want to read “A Plague of Giants” by Kevin Hearne. This is the first in a new series that includes shape-shifting bards, fire-wielding giants and children who can speak to astonishing beasts.

“Lilac Lane” is a new Chesapeake Shores novel from Sherryl Woods. Single mom Kiera Malone raised her three small children in a small Irish town. Just as she learns to love again, her fiancé suffers a heart attack and once again she is alone. She travels to Chesapeake Shores to visit her father and daughter where she is promised family support and a new job. But what she didn’t plan on was living next door to a moody chef, Bryan Laramie, who just might provide the right recipe for love.

Kaira Rouda is the author of “Best Day Ever.” Paul Strom is successful with a wonderful family. He decides to take his wife, Mia, on a romantic weekend. However, on the drive toward the countryside tensions mount and doubts about their relationship arise. This suspense novel is filled with dark energy that spins to a shocking conclusion.

The new Danielle Steel books is “The Right Time.” James Patterson’s Private novel is “Count to Ten.” “Shattered Memories” by V.C. Andrews is the newest in the Mirror Sisters Series.

The library will be closed Christmas Day. There will be no Story Hour Dec. 22 and Dec. 29. There will be no Books and Babies Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
