Kayla Bonar, pictured with her seizure response dog Charley, takes a moment to savor her new degree during Washington State University's winter commencement. Many locals will recall the months Kayla spent recuperating in Chinook after a particularly bad seizure. During that time she did some substitute work at Meadowlark and wrote occasionally for the "Blaine County Journal." Many helped Kayla, during that period, as she did fundraising to acquire Charley.
She and Charley will soon move on to Ellensburg, Washington, where Kayla will be a reporter for the local newspaper in the central Washington town. Kayla is the granddaughter of BCJ reporter Steve Edwards and Rev. Sherry Edwards.
