The 2017-2018 Royalty is Queen, Stacie Cornell and Kurt Calvert. Stacie is currently a Senior and is the daughter of Don and Connie Cornell. Stacie is the President of the National Honor Society and has been a Student Council Class representative for 3 years. Stacie has attended HOBY and has been an American Legion Auxiliary Girls State delegate, as well as Lady Tornadoes Basketball manager her freshman and sophomore years. She is active in the Business Professionals of America club, as well as track and DC Club. Escorting Stacie is the 2017-2018 Homecoming King, Kurt Calvert. Kurt is a Junior at T.H.S. and is the son of Brian and Karensa Calvert. Kurt is a member of the Pep Club and HOBY. He participates in Wildcat Football and Tornado Basketball. We wish our new ROYALTY couple our congratulations and wish them well the rest of the school year.
Coronation of Royalty was held recently for the 2017-2018 Homecoming at Turner High School. Four high school boys and girls were delegates for the festivities. Last year's reigning queen and king, Melanie Watkins and Eddie Harmon, passed the crowns to the incoming royalty that was recently held at half court during the varsity boys game recently. Two second grade girls, Olivia Keller and Quin Billmayer brought the envelope to half court with the names of the incoming royalty to be announced. After the game, a sock hop was held at the Old Gym for all seventh through senior grades to attend.
Presenting the 2016-2017 Homecoming Queen was Melanie Watkins. Melanie is a Junior and the daughter of AJ and Denise Watkins. She is the secretary of the Junior class and Pep Club. She is a member of the National Honor Society, HOBY and Big Flat Youth Group. She has been active in basketball and loves to play basketball and hang out with her friends. The 2016-2017 reigning king, Eddie Harmon, is a Senior and the son of Jon and Shelly Harmon. Eddie is the President of the senior class and a member of the Big Flat Youth Group, HOBY, Boys State Delegate, and Student Council President. Eddie plays basketball and is the 2017 800 meter State Track Champion. He plans to attend Dickinson State University on a track scholarship. His field of study is undecided.
Sarah Billmayer, was crowned 2017-2018 Princess. She is a Sophomore, is the daughter of Adam and Shawna Billmayer. Sarah is active as class representative for the Student Council, National Honor Society member, as well as member of the Big Flat Youth Group. She participates in Lady Tornado Basketball and track. Sarah was escorted by the 2017-2018 Prince, Cody Welsh. He is a son of Curt and Julie Welsh. Cody is a Junior, and is the President of the Pep Club, Student Council Class representative, and member of the Big Flat Youth Group and DC Club. He participates in Tornado Basketball and track, as well as Wildcat Football. Congratulations to this years Prince and Princess!!
