Miscellany and My Neighbor hosted the Chinook Area Chamber of Commerce first quarterly Business After Hours for 2018 last week. The Business After Hours was changed from a monthly program to a quarterly program starting this New Year. Miscellany is a recently reopened thrift store in downtown Chinook. My Neighbor in Need is a non-profit that seeks to help needy neighbors fill verified needs by neighbors willing to help anonymously.

Patricia Hofeldt reopened the thrift store under the new name, Miscellany, in July, 2017. She has been steadily adding to and changing her inventory with items she has purchased or taken on consignment. Many guests commented about the new look to the old shop.

Guests at the Chinook Chamber's new quarterly Business After Hours sample some goodies at the event held at Miscellany, the reopened thrift shop on Indiana in downtown Chinook. The March After Hours, sponsored by the Chamber, was hosted by Miscellany and My Neighbor in Need.

Despite an early afternoon snowstorm and some rural roads still blocked, there was a good turnout for the event held at Miscellany. Sarah Pratt, Chamber President, and her family were back for a visit from Miles City where her husband, Danny, is working a temporary assignment with the National Resource Conservation Service. Sarah Pratt welcomed the guests and Hofeldt answered questions about the newly arranged store. My Neighbor in Need volunteers prepared finger foods for the event.

Miscellany sponsored a drawing. There were three winners: Mark Billmayer; Daniel Dahl and Andre Silva. There were a number of chamber officers on hand as well as several volunteers who have been active since My Neighbor in Need was organized in the spring of 2014. My Neighbor initially only served Chinook but now reaches out to all of Blaine County. Persons who want to request a need can use My Neighbor's website http://www.myneighborinneed.org or call 357-8080. All requests are verified before they are filled.

The After Hours event was jointly hosted because Miscellany and My Neighbor recently began a new collaboration. Locals can donate certain household items through My Neighbor and bring them to Miscellany. The donor may be eligible for a tax deductible donation. For answers about how a donation can be made, call a My Neighbor in Need volunteer (357-8080) or visit with Patricia Hofeldt at Miscellany on Indiana Street of call her (390-4862).
