Thinclads final get a chance to compete after a month of practice

It's been a test in patience for are track and field athletes as they have been hard at work, practicing for more than a month due to the extended winter and subsequent flooding.

This past week the thinclads from Chinook, Harlem, Hays/Lodge Pole and Turner finally got the chance to test themselves in actual competition.

The Turner Tornado boys and girls faired very well at the Porcupine Invitational in Glasgow finishing second in both team races.

Senior Eddie Harmon led the Tornado effort picking up a trio of first place finishes Saturday in Glasgow.

Harmon, the defending Class C 800 Meter champion swept the sprints over the weekend. Harmon won the 100 Meter Dash in :11.75 and the 200 Meter Dash in a time of :23.78 before capping his day with a win in the 400 Meter dash crossing the finish line in :53.06.

Turner junior Cody Welsh also had a solid day in Glasgow winning the 110 Meter High Hurdles in :16.85 and the 300 meter Hurdles in :42.91 while also finishing third in the high jump clearing 5'8".

Jack Harmon led the Tornado effort in the first meet of the season last Monday at the Scottie Invitational. Jack finished second in the 400 Meter Dash (:55.56), while Welsh was second in the 300 Meter Hurdles (:43.69). Billmayer also finished second in the girls 300 hurdles (:51.74

Tornado sophomore Sarah Billmayer captured the top spot in the 300 Meter Hurdles in the girls race with a time :51.25. Junior Rylee Conlan was a winner in the 200 Meter Dash covering the distance in :30.32.

The Sugarbeeters competed well in Glasgow last Monday and Chouteau this past Saturday. Junior Megan Molyneaux finished second in the 100 Meter Dash in Glasgow with a time of :13.99 and was second in Chouteau as well trimming a half second with a time if :13.49.

Junior Trajan Hannum picked up a pair of third place finishes in Chouteau in the 800 Meter Run (2:16.11) and the 1600 Meter Run (5:04.32). Junior Cord Schneider earned a third place finish in the Shot Put with a distance of 42'0.75".
