The Chinook Sugarbeeter golf team has been busy playing as many rounds as they can after not being able to compete the first month of the season.

After qualifying a girls team for the state tournament last week the Sugarbeeters have also qualified a boys team as well.

The Sugarbeeters competed in Shelby, Fort Benton and Chouteau last week and while complete results are not available Head Coach Mike Seymour has announce his State C qualifiers heading into the final week of the regular season.

Senior Carrie Hofer, a All-State performer a season ago is headed back the state meet as is junior Ashley MacLeod. Both Hofer and Macleod have plenty of experience at the state tournament and will be competing for the third time individually.

Joining the girls team this year are sophomore Alyssa Gruszie and freshman Hailey Bell.

On the boys side of the ledger, senior Jacob Huckabee has qualified and will be making his second trip to the state tournament. Seniors Tamer Jamieson and Brandon Paulsen have also qualified and will be making their first appearance at the state tournament.

The Sugarbeeters will host their Invitational this Saturday beginning at 10:00 am.

The regular season finale not only gives the Sugarbeeters a chance to compete on their home course it also provides those not yet qualified for the state tournament one last chance to make the mark.

To qualify for the state tournament a player has to record a round of 100 for the boys or a round of 120 for the girls and the round has to be 'marked' or witnessed by an official in order to qualify for the state tournament.

Teams that qualify for the state tournament can play four golfers in the Class C and record the best three scores each round of the two day tournament. The State C Tournament is May 14-16 at Fairmont Hot Springs.

The Harlem Wildcats haven't been able to compete on their home course this season due to flooding but the team has been competing.

In the Class B a Divisional Tournament is held to establish the state tournament field. In the Class B teams can play five qualified players and take the best four scores.

This year the Northern B Divisional will be played in Glasgow on Monday, May 7. The State B Tournament will be in Shepherd, May 14-16.
