Turner senior Eddie Harmon repeated as 800 Meter State Class C champion at the state meet in Great Falls this past weekend crossing the finish line in 1:57.48. Harmon then added a tate championship in the 400 Meter Dash winning the event in :50.31. Both Harmon's times were Turner school records. Harmon also finished third in the 200 Meter Dash.

The Class C State Track and Field meet in Great Falls this past weekend produced plenty of memorable moments including the efforts of Turner senior Eddie Harmon and his teammate, junior Cody Welsh. Chinook junior Megan Molyneaux and sophomore Raynee Hasler earned medals as did the Surgarbeeters 4x100 Meter Relay.

Harmon came into the state meet as the Class C defending 800 meter champion, but he had his sights set on much more this time around. Harmon not only repeated as 800 Meter State Champion, he won the event in a school record time of 1:57.48.

A year ago Harmon became the first Tornado to ever win a state title, this year he not only became the first to repeat as a state champion but he also became the first two win two titles and the state meet after winning the 400 Meter Dash in a school record time of :50.31. Adding to his medal haul, Harmon also finished third in the 200 Meter dash crossing the finish line in :23.26.

"It's an absolutely unreal feeling. There's really nothing like it. There are just no words to describe being able to win in the 800 for two years in a row and the 400 this last weekend. Even taking third in the 200 felt good," said Harmon.

Harmon and his team accomplished a lot this season, "This year was full of accomplishments for my team and me. I was able to break the 100, 400, and 800 records for our school. Our team also broke our short relay record and we took third place in districts and divisionals in team standings. I'm proud of my team and our accomplishments. It seems like everything was able to just fall into place with a lot of hard work and determination," stated Harmon.

The Tornadoes finished fourth in the team race at the state meet, finishing with 40 points. Harmon accounted for 26 of those points and junior Cody Welsh added the other 14 and proves its quality not quantity that counts at the State C.

Welsh became the Tornadoes second state champion after winning the 300 Meter Hurdles Saturday afternoon with a time of :40.87. Welsh also picked up a fourth place finish in the 110 Meter High Hurdles (:16.04).

"Hearing someone tell me that I am a state champion is absolutely a dream come true. I've been working so hard to accomplish that goal and I finally did it," said Welsh.

Welsh has put in the time to get better and to now finally experience the results of his efforts is fulfilling, "It feels so good to have all of that hard work pay off in the end. Coming home to an entire town there to congratulate me on my victory for it was a huge surprise too, I could not stop smiling. I was just so happy," concluded Harmon.

Chinook Sugarbeeter junior Megan Molyneaux also had a great weekend having found a spot on the podium three times.

Molyneaux earned a third place finish in the 200 Meter Dash completing the sprint in :26.48. Her second trip to the podium came after a sixth place finish in the 100 Meter Dash after crossing the finish line in :13.10. Molyneaux and teammates, senior Jaye Anderson, junior Kourtney Hanson and junior Lincy Johnson blistered their way to a sixth place finish in the 4x100 Meter Relay completing the lap in :52.82.

Sophomore Raynee Hasler turned in the best effort of her career in the 3,200 Meter Run at the state meet, completing the eight laps in 12:38.52 to finish fifth in the race.

Chinook juniors Trajan Hannum and Cord Schneider also competed for the Sugarbeeters at the state meet. Turner sophomore Clayton Krass and freshman Jack Harmon joined Eddie and Cody on the Turner boys 4x100 Meter Relay team at state and Turner sophomore Sarah Billmayer and freshman Shyan Krass competed as well.
