June 13, 2018

Jessica (Hansen) Aberg was named Branch President for the First Bank of Montana in Chinook effective June 7. A native of Harlem, she started with the Chinook branch in 2007. She and her husband, Kevin, moved back to the area after college to take over her dad's share of a family ranch and farm. The Abergs have two small children, Amalie and Mason.

Jessica (Hansen) Aberg was named Branch President for the First Bank of Montana in Chinook effective June 7. Dean Comes, President of the branches that make up First Bank of Montana, made the announcement after reviewing applications from within the Glacier Bank system. A native of Harlem, Aberg began with First Bank in Chinook in 2007 as a loan processor and most recently served as a consumer lender. Aberg replaces Craig Lowham who took a banking job in Mountain View, Wyoming, to be closer to aging parents.

The search process for a new branch president began with an internal application process giving current Glacier Bank employees first opportunity to apply. Asked why she applied for the position Aberg explained, "We have roots here in the area and have no plans to move. It seemed like an opportunity that would allow me to grow with the bank." She added that one of her main goals will be to work to assure the Chinook branch "keeps its small town feel and continues to serve its agricultural interests."

Aberg attended grade and high school in Chinook. She earned a degree in Animal Science at Montana State University in Bozeman. She and her husband, Kevin, who hails from Hinsdale, moved back to the area and took over her dad's share of a family farm and ranch. Her dad is Kim Hansen of Harlem. The Abergs have two children, nine year old Amalie and six year old Mason.

In the community Aberg is an active member of the Chinook ambulance crew. Two years ago she was also selected to serve as Secretary/Treasurer for Blaine I, Inc., a non-profit corporation that works to improve emergency services through emergency equipment purchases and supporting educational programs for emergency services volunteers.

The Chinook branch bank and the branch in Lewistown currently make up First Bank of Montana, one of 14 divisions of Glacier Bank based in Kalispell. Aberg shared that the First Bank of Montana division will be expanding with the recent acquisition by Glacier Bank of First Security Bank's locations in Montana. That will include bank branches in Fort Benton, Choteau, Vaughn and Fairfield as well as loan offices in Havre and Chester. The newly acquired banks are set to go live as part of Glacier Bank in mid-June.

Aberg said she is already scheduled to do training at the new Fairfield location next week. Her desire to grow with Glacier Bank seems to have started already. The "Journal" congratulates Jessica in her new post.
