Lions win Malta Invitational with 814 points, teams in Roundup this weekend

Week two of the summer swim season had the Chinook Lions and Harlem swim teams in Malta this past weekend. Both teams performed really well in the pool and looking to be in fine form heading into week three this weekend in Roundup. Above left: The Chinook Lions won the overall team title in Malta racking up an amazing 814 team points over the two days. The Lions also finished third in the overall Team Relay competition. Middle: The Chinook Lions had four individual swimmers win High Point trophies at the Malta Invitational They are (L-R) Rachel Stephens - Bantam Girls (8 & Under), Lane Hasler - Junior Boys (11-12), Katie Tilleman - Midget Girls (9-10), Daniel Tilleman - Midget Boys (9-10). The Harlem swim team also competed very well in Malta and had 26 of their 28 swimmers on hand to compete. Harlem's Andrew Rasmussen, right was the Intermediate Boys (13-14) High Point winner in Malta.


The Montana Federation of swimmers made up of teams across the state that only compete in outdoor pools and not year around in AAU or High School divisions. The Federation is broken up into an Eastern and Western Division with the top 12 swimmers in each event at their respective divisional advancing to the Federation State Swim meet. Swimmers compete in boys and girls classifications based on age not grade: 8 & Under - Bantams; 9-10 - Midgets; 11-12 - Juniors; 13-14 - Intermediates and Seniors - 15-19.
