Both Agnethe Forseth and her son, Sigurd, filed for a homestead in the Grandview area. Relatives say this is the site where Agnethe first built a small house, "able to creep in to," to establish she was living on her claim. She notes in a later letter that she "added a kitchen" and some bushes and trees to the yard. In 1914 she met the requirements to "prove up" the land.
