Farmer - Rancher Night returns to packed house

October 25, 2017

After a 21 year hiatus the Annual Farmer/Rancher night made it's return this past Saturday. Hosted by the Chinook Are Chamber of Commerce the gathering served more than 400 Prime Rib Dinners to our local Farmers and Ranchers.

In what was commonly referred to as a great way to recognize the efforts of the agriculture industry and the contributions it has made to the communities of Blaine County, the dinner was considered a success.

The communities of Turner and Hogeland even contracted a Bus from Larry Surber to bring farmers and ranchers from the Big Flat to the event.

Blaine County Commissioner Frank DePriest has been a part of many Farmer/Rancher nights, going back to the 70's, "This is a lot fancier" said DePriest. "It used to be held in the armory and over the years has always been a well attended event."

Guests were thrilled with the event, "I am happy that the chamber does this for the farmers and ranchers because that's what built the community," commented Lacy Wortman.

"I think it's great; I think it's a good thing to bring people together like the farmers & ranchers along with businesses in town," added Karla Buck. "That's what its all about...agriculture," said Dexter Buck.

The Chamber did all the planning and setting up for the dinner, "We planned for 400 people and served Prime Rib that was cooked by Shania Hofeldt and the crew from Andy's Supper Club," said Heather DePriest of the Chamber.

"The Bar is provided by the Mint and the dinner was exclusively for Blaine County Farmers and Ranchers," added Depriest, "Sponsor fees covered the entire meal and extra money will be reinvested in the yearly event"
