Red Ribbon Week was celebrated all week at the Turner School. The Red Ribbon is a symbol is remind us to be drug-free. The first red ribbon week campaign was organized in 1988, in honor of Enrique (Kiki) Camerena, a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent who was killed in Mexico in 1985 while working undercover in his "battle against illegal drugs." Since then, Red Ribbon Week is celebrated the last week of October each year. The Turner Public School joins other schools across the United States in recognizing this cause. One day this past week, students in Turner saw older students coloring, reading, and playing with the younger students. This is a quick short of just a minute group of students coloring with the younger children. They are Isabella Van Voast, Quin Billmayer, Shay Humphreys (coloring with the younger children), and Bridger Hawley. The children really enjoyed this activity, and other activities all week long while wearing their red ribbons.
