The Blaine County Fair Board announces 2018 Blaine County Fair dates

December 27, 2017

The fair will kick off on the 4TH OF JULY at the fairgrounds in Chinook, Montana, with the Kids Rodeo scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, July 4th, which is also slated to be the Opening Day for the carnival. The popular Dreamland Carnival will return with even more rides and activities planned than in 2017. The carnival will be open Wednesday evening through Sunday afternoon.

The increasingly popular Pig Wrestling event will again be a Grandstand event for the second year, and it moves earlier in the Fair calendar, scheduled for Thursday July 5th.

Two days of Bear Paw Roundup PRCA Rodeo action follow, moving one day later in the schedule as compared to last year and will take place Friday & Saturday, July 6th and 7th.

The 4-H & FFA Youth Livestock Sale will be held Sunday afternoon, as usual. Ending the fair “with a bang,” the fair’s biggest event, the Blaine County Showdown Demolition Derby will be on Sunday evening, July 8th.

There will again be free music and dancing at the beer garden after each night of the Bear Paw Roundup PRCA Rodeo and the demolition derby.

“Becoming a bigger and better fair also makes scheduling more complex, as we need to work into rodeo calendars, carnival calendars, and meat processing calendars in coordination with other communities across the region,” explained Fair Board President Don Richman.

“Everyone competes for a limited number of summertime weekends, and with the way the calendar shifts each year, we found the 4th of July weekend is our best option--and really our only option this year.”

“We as a Fair Board are actually very excited about a 4th of July fair. Rodeo and Independence Day have traditionally gone hand-in-hand, and we love that the the kids get to have their rodeo on the 4th,” Richman added.

“We wanted to get the word out early so that everyone can plan to make the Blaine County Fair part of their 4th of July weekend this year. With all the tremendous support from the community and the amazing growth in the past few years, we know this year’s fair will be more exciting than ever,” Richman said.

More details will be posted online as the fair approaches at the Fair website, http://www.BlaineCountyFair.Net and Facebook page, Facebook.com/blainecountyfair and questions may be directed to info@blainecountyfair.net.
