Ruby C. Cochran Shoemaker

Ruby C. Cochran Shoemaker, 90 of Hays, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Hi-Line Retirement Home in Malta. A wake was held beginning on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. and continued until her funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Red Whip Center. Burial followed in the Shoemaker Family Cemetery.

Ruby was born on February 14, 1927 to James O. and Anne (John) Cochran in Fort Belknap. In Ruby's younger years she attended school in Harlem, and later met and married Michael "Bud" Campbell of Hays. Coming into the marriage Ruby had her fist born daughter, Sharon Cochran, and then two children with Bud, Michael "Skinny" Campbell and Delores "Poochie" Campbell.


Later Ruby divorced, and moved to Seattle, WA where she met and married Robert Shoemaker. From this marriage they had three sons; Robert, Dale, and Rory.

While living in Washington Ruby enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds. Ruby loved spending time in her home, and doing home improvements when she could.

In 2000 Ruby and Robert had decided to move home to Montana, and once here established a home site in Hays, MT. Ruby loved her home here, and being able to be with family she had not seen in years.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shoemaker; daughter, Sharon Cochran; sons, Baby Boy Campbell and Rory Shoemaker; grandsons, Michael James Campbell and Baby Cochran; great-grandchildren, Christopher Shoemaker and Cash Colt Wells; parents, James Cochran and Anne John Cochran; siblings, William, Martin, Hank, Kenneth, Parker, Fern, Leona and Rosie Cochran.

She is survived by four of her children, Michael "Skinny" (Liza) Campbell of Birch Creek, Delores "Poochie" Campbell of Dodson, Robert "Bobby" Shoemaker and Dale Shoemaker both of Everett, WA; her baby sister, Carol Ann Doney of Fort Belknap; 29 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
