The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Harlem Wildcats will be in Billings this Friday and Saturday at the All-Class State Wrestling Tournament following a solid effort at the Northern B/C Divisional in Malta.

The Sugarbeeters finished fifth in the team standings with 86 points and qualified six wrestlers for the state tournament.

Harlem collected 50 points in Malta and will send three wrestlers to Billings.

Chinook will be represented in Billings by freshman Rebecca Stroh who was named champion of the 103 pound division without having to wrestle.

Chinook sophomore Garrett Pruttis defeated Colt French of Malta/Whitewater by pinfall at the 1:15 mark of the match. Harlem junior Ken Todd defeated Jay Nicholson also of Malta/Whitewater in his semifinal by pinfall (0:43) to set up the Championship match.

Todd outlasted Pruttis in a hard fought match claiming the 120 pound title with a 7-1 decision.

Harlem senior Gavin Horn advanced to the State tournament with a third place finish at 113 pounds. Horn lost his semifinal match to Dylan Riphenburg of Shelby but responded with a win by pinfall over Harlem's Zach Johnson. Horn then defeated Stephan Schultze of Simms by pinfall (3:23) in the consolation final.

Sugarbeeter junior Ross Reed finished third at 145 pounds and advance to state. Reed began his run by pinning Tyler Larson of Shelby (1:50). He then lost his semifinal match to Kaden Moore of Malta.

In the consolation semifinal Reed defeated Hunter Decker of Simms and then won a decision over Jamess Etsey of Cut Bank 2-1.

Sophomore JT Hauer also will represent Chinook in Billings after a third place effort at 152 pounds.

Hauer fell to Calvin Maples in his quarterfinal match by pinfall and fought his way back. Hauer first pinned Marcus Woods of Malta (0:59) before pinning Cody Decker of Simms (2:16) to advance to the consolation final.

In the third/fourth place match Hauer again faced Maples but this time it was Hauer winning by pinfall in 2:42.

Harlem senior Curtis Humphreys finished second at 285 and will represent the Wildcats in Billings. Humphreys defeated Thomas Trot of Fairfield and Franky Werk of Malta, both by pinfall to advance to the final. Humphreys was defeated by Dakota Daley of Choteau by pinfall.

Chinook freshman Favion Couturier advanced to the state meet as well. Couturier finished fourth at 160 pounds and picked up wins over Ethan Davis of Fort Benton/Big Sandy and Moses Smith of Harlem at the Northern B/C Divisional.

Sophomore Reubin Swenson is the sixth Sugarbeeter to advance to the All-Class State tournament. Swenson finished fourth at 205 at the Northern B/C Divisional.

Swenson won by pinfall over Dylan Darlington of Fort Benton/Big Sandy and Samual Mishler of Simms to advance.
