Blaine County Library

April 18, 2018

The Blaine County Library recently held a Special Storytime with the Funshine Preschool.

The Blaine County Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Wednesday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the library meeting room.

Same Kind of Different as Me will be the movie today at 1:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. It is rated PG-13 and running time is 119 minutes. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. The Lost Child will be showing April 25th. We are showing the movies with closed captioning whenever possible. Hopefully this will encourage those who may have difficulties hearing the movies to attend.

Thor Ragnarok and The Greatest Showman are new movies available this week.

In his powerful new novel, "Varina," Charles Frazier returns to the time and place of "Cold Mountain," vividly bringing to life the chaos and devastation of the Civil War. In "The Girl in the Tower" by Katherine Arden a remarkable young woman blazes her own trail, from the backwoods of Russia to the court of Moscow. This is the sequel to Arden's bestselling debut novel, "The Bear and the Nightingale." "After Anna" by Lisa Scottoline is a groundbreaking domestic thriller, as well as a novel of emotional justice and legal intrigue. Stone Barrington must defend a woman whose business--and life--are under threat in "Shoot First" the latest nonstop adventure from Stuart Woods.

Last week was National Library Week and we had 209 people stop into the library. Thank you to everyone who filled out a survey. We will be addressing issues from the survey in the coming weeks. Bella Brown had the closest guess and was the winner of the jar of Starbursts. Nancy Boyce was the winner for the adult drawing. Congratulations Bella and Nancy!

We are currently planning our Summer Reading Program and we are looking for some items for crafts. We are in need of empty cereal boxes. If you can donate any to the cause we would be grateful!

The Blaine County Library is pleased to be hosting the next class in the family education series being presented by the Blaine County Health Department. Join us Tuesday April 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. Tough Topics: Talking with your teen will be the focus that evening. Topics covered will be reproductive health, vaping and tobacco use, evolution of drugs and alcohol use.

Be sure to check out the on-going book sale in the entryway while you are here. You may find something you just can't do without! All proceeds from our book sales go into our memorial fund and are used for special programming and items to enhance the library.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what's going on!

"There are many ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all" Jacqueline Kennedy
