June 6, 2018

This is the first week of our Summer Reading Program. It is never too late to get your kids signed up to participate in the reading program. We had 0ver 50 kids sign up as of last Friday! Children who join the summer reading program keep their minds active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and ready to succeed. For every two hours read, kids will be able to enter their name into our Summer Reading prize drawings. There will also be small prizes awarded for every two-hour entry. Pre-readers are encouraged to participate by having someone read to them. We will have computers available for taking Accelerated Reader tests, so kids will be able to get a head start on AR points for the fall.

Our programs will begin after Loaves & Fishes each day. We will show a family friendly movie every Monday at 1:30 p.m. "Early Man" will be the movie June 11th. It is rated PG and running time is 89 minutes. Summer Storytime for kids ages 5 and under will take place every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. and will last approximately 30 minutes. The Summer Storytime program is tailored to the needs and interests of a younger age group and is a great opportunity for your younger children to get involved with our Summer Library activities. Each week we'll read stories, sing songs, and make crafts. There will be a Summer Library Program every Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. beginning June 5th and ending July 31st. Each program will last around 45 to 60 minutes. There will be stories, games, crafts, and treats each week. Wednesdays will be LEGO Club from 1:30-2:30 p.m. for kids K through 6. Younger kids are welcome to attend with adult supervision. Thursdays will be Middle School Hangout from 1:30-2:30 p.m. This program is for kids going into grades 6 through 8.

Other new books available this week include "The Road Forgotten" by Richard Paul Evans, "By Invitation Only" by Dorthea Benton Frank, and "Love & Ruin" by Paula McLain.
