Leona (Sanford) Gilmore of Chinook, MT passed away August 27th 2018. She was born to Albert E. "Hon" and Elizabeth (Ferko) Sanford, July 19th 1927 in south Blaine County. She joined her brother Albert and an adventurous pair they became. Leona went to school at Raglan Bench School through 8th grade, then move into Big Sandy School dormitories to complete high school, then graduated in 1945. Later she went and married Kenneth Gilmore in 1947, and together had 2 children. They lived in Chinook where she worked as a store clerk. Then went on to work as a ferry operator with Kenneth on the McClelland Ferry. Their grandchildren spent countless hours and days with Grannie roaming the Missouri River breaks. Rocks, sharks teeth, and horned toads beware. After retirement she cooked many meals for her family & friends, and the coffee was always on!

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, brother and sister in law, Al & Betty Sanford. She is survived by her son, Dale Gilmore, daughter, Linda & Mick Thompson. Grandchildren Rhonda Hauge, Kenny Gilmore, Carrie & Chris Mundlin, Amanda Gilmore, Leve & Brenda Jones, Casey & Michelle (Bemis) Jones, and Beau Flom. Great grandchildren, Kyle Davideck, Cheyanne Gilmore, Hannah Bude, Payton Jones, Saraya Jones, Brianna Zumbrun, Bailey Zumbrun, Brogan Zumbrun, and Taylor Klein. Great great granddaughter, Kimber Klein.
