Crown Athletics Announces 2018 Hall of Fame Class

September 19, 2018

The Crown College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that Adam Hayes, Danielle Schiebout (Hall), and Jill Stumbo (Meeker) will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame on September 22nd at halftime of the homecoming football game. Crown will host the University of Northwestern – St. Paul for a 6 p.m. kickoff.

Hayes was a record-setting quarterback for the Storm football team, playing from 2007-2010 and finishing as the winningest quarterback in school history. A three-year starter, Hayes captured All-Conference recognition from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) each year, earning a Second Team award his sophomore season and collecting First Team honors as a junior and senior. The Chinook, Montana native set 19 school records and led the conference’s top offense in each of his final two seasons, amassing 5,925 yards and 65 touchdowns through the air.

Since graduating, Hayes has worked as a teacher in Pocatello, Idaho before returning to the sidelines at Crown and serving as the team’s offensive coordinator from 2012-2015. He currently teaches and coaches in Litchfield, Minnesota where he and his wife Courtney are expecting their third child.

Danielle Schiebout was a four-year starter for Crown’s softball and volleyball teams from 2004-2008. Schiebout was a key contributor on the volleyball court, where she still holds the program record for digs with 1,249 and was a member of Crown’s 2005 NCCAA National Tournament team. It was the softball field where the Meadow Creek Christian School graduate really stood out, however. Primarily a catcher, Schiebout was named First Team All-Conference in each of her four seasons. Known for her incredible power at the plate, she collected multiple offensive records for the Storm, some of which continue to stand today.

After graduation, Danielle returned to Meadow Creek (now Legacy Christian) as a substitute teacher and coach before returning to Crown as part of the NCAA’s Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant. After serving for two years in game management/operations, Danielle joined the Crown staff on a permanent basis as the head volleyball coach and Assistant Athletic Director for Operations, roles she continues today. She lives in Long Lake, Minnesota with her Husband Alan and son Owen. The couple is expecting their second child in November.

Another two-sport star rounds out the class of 2018. Jill Stumbo excelled in softball and basketball, where she racked up a total of six All-Conference awards in the UMAC. In addition to being an accomplished softball player, Stumbo is one of the most decorated women’s basketball players in school history. The do-it-all-guard scored, rebounded, and assisted her way through the record books, holding multiple all-time marks in several statistical categories. She led Crown to two NCCAA National Tournament appearances, in 2002-03 and 2005-06, earning NCCAA First Team All-Region, NCCAA Honorable Mention All-American, and First Team All-UMAC awards after each campaign. In 2003-04 and 2004-05 she earned Honorable Mention All-UMAC honors.

Jill graduated from Crown with a psychology degree and currently works as a Mental Health Practitioner at a residential treatment facility. She and her husband Adam reside in Minneapolis, and have traveled the globe extensively, engaging with diverse cultures along the way. The couple is expecting their second child, a boy, due to arrive the day before homecoming!
