'Beeters pick up forfeit win against Rocky Boy

September 26, 2018

The Chinook Sugarbeeters improved their record to 3-2 with a 2-0 forfeit win over the Rocky Boy Northern Stars.

The unexpected bye week will give the ‘Beeters an opportunity to get healthy and extra time to work on the game plan for the Simms Tigers, their opponent this Friday as the school celebrates Homecoming week.

This will be a big game for the team as they look to return to the Class C Eight-man football playoffs this fall.

Currently the Sugarbeeters stand at 3-2 having picked up wins over the Fort Benton Longhorns, Cascade Badgers along with the Forfeit.

The teams two losses came against the teams at the top of the division, Shelby and Centerville. The Sugarbeeters showed they can compete with both those teams but need a win this Friday to improve their chances.

The Tigers come to town with a 2-2 record and are coming off a sound 66-22 loss to the Fort Benton Longhorns.

A win would lock up the No. 3 spot in the B Division giving them a chance to play for the Northern C No. 3, 4 or 5 seed in the State Playoffs.

The Sugarbeeters will conclude the scheduled part of their regular season on October 6 with a game against the Great Falls Central Mustangs. The Mustangs currently are undefeated and hold the No. 1 spot in the A Division with a 4-0 record.

On October 12 the Sugarbeeters will travel to the No. 2 A team, currently the Chouteau Bulldogs. The winner of that contest will play the winner of the No. 2 B (Shelby) and the No. 3 A (Chester/J.I.) with the winner earning the Northern C No. 3 seed and the loser the No.4 seed.

The losers of the two (No. 2 v. No. 3) contests will play on October 19 for the No. 5 seed in the playoffs. Teams can change from now until then so stay tuned.
