Tester and Williams to Headline Blaine County Democrats Spaghetti Dinner

October 10, 2018

The Blaine County Democrats are hosting a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, October 21 at 5 PM at the Wallner Hall in Chinook. Admission is by free will offering and everyone is welcome. According to Blaine County Democratic Vice-chair Carol Elliot, “We are pleased to announce that both United States Senator Jon Tester and U.S. House candidate Kathleen Williams have accepted our invitation to be the featured speakers at our dinner.”

Senator Tester, from the nearby town of Big Sandy, is the only active farmer serving in the United States Senate. While others may own agricultural property, Jon and his wife Char spend available time actually working the land and managing the production of agricultural products. Before being elected to the U.S. Senate, Jon served two terms in the Montana Senate, one of those terms with former Senator Greg Jergeson, and one with former Senator Kim Hansen.

Kathleen Williams from Bozeman served three terms in the Montana House of Representatives. As an Associate Director at the Western Landowners Alliance, Kathleen has become an acknowledged resource on water policy issues, private land conservation, and the economics of our rural communities. Kathleen was married to Tom, a Vietnam-era veteran and a civilian advisor in Iraq, for nearly 15 years until Tom passed away in 2016.

Also expected to attend the dinner are Rex Renk, candidate for Montana Clerk of Court, Doug Kaercher, running for the Public Service Commission seat previously held by Greg Jergeson, and our local candidates, Kim Hansen, candidate for County Commissioner, and John Colby, candidate for Sheriff. Other local government officials, area legislators and legislative candidates plan to be in attendance.

“It should be an informative evening,” Elliot concluded. “I’d encourage all to attend and wish to make a special invitation to youth under 18.”
