33rd Annual Parade of Lights, Festival of Trees happening this Friday

This interesting combination of pioneer Montana and Christmas was mounted on a four wheeler. In addition to Christmas lights it also had a sound system playing seasonal selections. Floats like this can be seen this Friday night during the 33rd Annual Parade of Lights in Chinook.

The 33rd Annual Parade of Lights and Festival of Trees takes place this Friday. As usual there is plenty going on during the day and throughout the night. The 8th Annual Festival of Trees will again be part of the festivities with proceeds from a Live Auction Friday night going to the upkeep of the main street snowflakes.

The Festival of Trees is open to individuals, businesses, groups, organizations as well as families and churches. Simply decorate a tree, wreath or gift basket. Wreaths and small baskets will be auctioned of during a silent auction held during the course of the day.

The trees and baskets are on display at the First Bank of Montana for anyone wanting to view them prior to the Live Auction or place a bid in the Silent Auction. The trees and baskets will be relocated to the Eagles after 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Silent Auction winners will be able to pick their items up at the First Bank of Montana.


The Annual Christmas Stroll will take place on Main Street from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. Christmas music will be playing and Vendors will be on hand as well. Many of the vendors this year will be located in the old Greytak Realty building on the north end of Main Street across from Dan's NAPA.

The Blaine County Wildlife Museum will also be open Friday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. The Blaine County Museum will be open from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. with free admission to all visitors.

Stop by the Chamber Office and pick up a Progressive Business Punch Card and then be sure to stop into participating local businesses to get it punched. When full, return your card to the Chamber Office to be entered in a drawing.

At 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. The Grinch will be showing at the Blaine County Library. The local Bell Choir will again be performing at the Library Meeting room from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

Santa and Mrs. Clause will be on hand for the youngsters to have their picture taken with from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food item with you when having your pictures taken.

Indian Tacos will be served at the Chinook Eagles from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with the Live Auction to get underway after the dinner, approximately 7:15 p.m.

Participants in the parade will begin lining up in front of the Meadowlark Elementary at 5:30 p.m. with the parade set to make its way down Main Street at 6:00 p.m.

Mr. & Mrs. Clause will be on hand during the parade as well. Tower heaters will line both sides of the street providing ample opportunity for onlookers to stay warm while viewing the parade.
