Happy New Year from the library! Hopefully one of your resolutions is to use the library more. We have so many services and programs to take advantage of. Perhaps you would like to join in the reading challenges this year. The 2019 Reading Challenge encourages you to read at least 52 books during the year. If you do, you may win a wonderful gift basket which includes a $25 gift card. Let the library know if you completed the 2018 Reading Challenge as we will draw for the winner January 7.

The Book Challenge asks you to read a different type of book each month. The challenge for January is to read a book you meant to read in 2018. When you complete the challenge contact the library and your name will be entered to win a $10 gift certificate from a local business. Let the library know if you have read the book for December 2018.

The Book Club members are reminded to pick up their copy of the new selection “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah this week. The first discussion will take place Monday, January 7, 4 P.M.

Children’s programming kicks in again this week. The After School Story Hour meets today at 3:30 P.M. for children ages 4 through grade 5. Lego Club for all ages meets Thursday, Jan. 3 from 4:30-5:30 P.M. Books and Babies will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 10 A.M. for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Develop those early literacy skills and involve your children in the library.

The library is offering “Tech Time” each Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Carly will do her best to answer your tech questions. Call the library or stop by and bring the device you have a question about.

Three new selections added to the Montana nonfiction area are “West to Montana” by Christine Wortman-Engren, “The Postcards of L.A. Huffman Montana Frontier Photographer” by Gene and Bev Allen, and “Ties, Rails, and Telegraph Wires: Railroads and Communities in Montana and the West” by Dale Martin.

Fans of Jan Karon’s Mitford series will want to pick up her new book “Bathed in Prayer” which includes Father Tim’s prayers, sermons and reflections.

Three thrillers ready for check out are “Vendetta” by Iris Johansen, “The Guilty Dead” by P.J. Tracy, and “The Moscow Deception” by Karen Robards.

Other new novels are “The Shortest Way Home” by Miriam Parker, “The Good Fight” by Danielle Steel, and “The Rain Watcher” by Tatiana De Rosnay.
