Harlem Civic Association to Hold Fundraiser

March 13, 2019

Vonnie Klungland, Karolee Cronk and Dale Klungland study their 'bracketology' sheets during the 2018 Harlem March Madness Calcutta. The three are part of a group of six seniors that are regular participants at the annual Calcutta.

March Madness, the moniker given to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men's Basketball Tournaments, captures the concentrated hype from the second week of March through the first week of April when 68 teams vie for college basketball's biggest prize in a single-elimination tournament.

Following selection Sunday, which will take place on March 17, when the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee reveals which teams have made the field for this year's basketball championships, the Harlem Civic Association will get in on the March Madness phenomenon with their March Madness fundraiser at Kennedy's Bar located at 66 Main Street South in Harlem.

On March 18, the festivities will begin at 6:00 when a free supper will be served. Bidding will begin at 7:00 PM when all 68 NCAA Men's Tournament teams will be auctioned off to the highest bidder in a Calcutta style auction. Thirty-two teams will be paid from the proceeds, and everyone is invited to participate. For more information, interested persons may call 406-262-5448.
