Don L. Iwan

Don L. Iwan born on September 30, 1943, to the late Amy Ann (Rada) Iwan and late Harold P. Iwan in Mitchell, South Dakota, passed away March 3, 2019 in Great Falls Mt. Growing up the Iwan family lived in White River SD, later moving to the Iwan ranch south of Stamford, South Dakota. Don attended grade/high schools in Roubaix, South Dakota and Deadwood/Lead, South Dakota. Don returned to the Iwan ranch for his junior and senior year of high school graduating from Kadoka SD.

In his younger years Don participated in 4H, was a member of the Terry Peak downhill ski team. Don was well known as a great cowboy and rancher. He enjoyed team roping, raising cattle and horses. Don accepted a job with Aerial Contractors in 1976, in which he traveled much of the Dakota's, Montana and Wyoming installing fiber optics.

The loves of Dons life was his two children, grandchildren, wife and horses. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Together Don and Cheryl owned and operated their restaurant in Harlem, Montana. Don bought and ran a backhoe for area projects. He and Cheryl purchased a few acres to raise horses and a few cattle to keep him busy. Don was a brand inspector for the Montana Brand Board and greatly enjoyed the interactions with the area ranching community.

Don is survived by his wife of 33 years Cheryl Iwan of Harlem, MT, his son Charles (Tracy) of Alberta Canada and daughter Barbara Iwan of South Dakota. Grandchildren Joshua, Kalyn, Karena, Kyler, Amy and John Paul. Siblings Rodney Iwan, Phyllis Word, Arlene Cox, Floyd Iwan, Darrell Iwan, Roger Iwan and Joe Iwan.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Beryl Jean Iwan and Joyce England and one brother Paul Iwan.

Memorial Services will be held in Harlem, Montana on March 9, 2019 at the Assembly of God with Pastors Jackson & Melissa Henry.
