The High School Track & Field teams got their first taste of competition this past weekend at the Glasgow Invitational. While the conditions may not have been the best the opportunity to compete in March is something teams haven’t been able to do the past few years.

The Turner Tornado boys had two individual champions. Senior Cody Welsh won the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of :44.09. Welsh is the defending Class C champion in the event.

Tuner junior Jack Harmon looks to continue the Tornadoes winning ways in the 800 Meter race. Harmon completed the two laps in 2:10.29 to win the event. Chinook senior Trajan Hannum was right their with him as he crossed the finish line at 2:10.30 to finish second.

Chinook senior Megan Molyneaux had a fantastic start to the season. Molyneaux finished second in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of :13.93. She added another runner up finish in the 200 Meter Dash after clocking in at :28.05.

Chinook senior Kourtney Hanson took second in the 800 Meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:36.94 Hanson, Molyneaux, senior Lincy Johnson and sophomore Rebecca Stroh finished second in the 4x400 Meter race, completing the four laps in 4:50.37.

Turner junior Sarah Billmayer added a second place finish in the 300 Meter Hurdles to the Tornado total, finishing the race with a time of :52.00. Harlem senior Skylee Dirden earned a runner up finish in the Long Jump with a leap of 14’1”.

The Chinook girls 4x100 relay team finished third and included, Hanson, Stroh, Molyneaux and freshman Anna Morrow.

The Chinook boys 4x400 Meter relay team also picked up a third place finish and included legs ran by junior Josh Gillett, junior J.T. Hauer, freshman Toby Niederegger and senior Trajan Hannum.

Today (Wednesday) all four area teams will compete in Havre at the Cal Wearley Track and Field Meet.
