28 Teams, 700 athletes: Cal Wearley showcases A, B and C Track & Field athletes

April 10, 2019

The Cal Wearley Invitational Track & Field meet was held last Wednesday at the Havre Middle School Track.

Most teams were competing in just their second meet of the season and there is no barometer better than the Cal Wearley to assess where you are and where you need to get to if you want to be competing at the State Track and Field Meet the end of May.

In what, for most, is the biggest meet of the season until the state meet, it brings together some of the top talent in the Class A, B and C ranks.

28 teams and more than 700 athletes to part in the meet and a top six finish here is an indicator of good things to come.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters, Harlem Wildcats, Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds and Turner Tornadoes were all on hand Wednesday.

The Chinook girls had a fantastic day with two individual champions and an overall fourth place finish. The Harlem Wildcat girls and the Sugarbeeter boys also had an individual champion.

The 'Beeters 4x100 Meter relay team of Hannum, freshman Toby Niederegger, junior Sam Dumas and freshman Hunter Molyneaux took fourth. The same four ran the 4x400 Meter Relay was fifth.
