Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet June 18 and 19

The Montana Fish & Wildlife Commission will meet June 18 and 19 at FWP Headquarters in Helena. On both days, the meeting will be streamed live via video to all FWP regional offices. The meeting will also be audio streamed online at fwp.mt.gov.

The meeting on June 18 is a work session; no public comments or action will be taken. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. and work items include:

•Voluntary Wildlife Heritage Stamp update

•Enforcement — regulations update

•Upper Missouri River Reservoir Fisheries Management Plan update

•Madison River rulemaking update

On June 19, the commission meeting starts at 8:30 a.m.

The commission will make final decisions on the following topics:

•Lake Mary Ronan emergency fishing regulation, R1

•2019 lion quotas

•2019 fall upland game bird quotas and limits

•Close HD 283 to the Regional 002-00 Elk B License

•2019 sheep quotas outside of the biennial quota ranges

•2019 deer/elk/antelope quotas outside the biennial quota ranges

•The Nature Conservancy biennial rule regulating use on The Nature Conservancy Recreation Management Area Lands R2


•Partial assignment of conservation easement on Gravely Ranch R2

•Partial assignment of conservation easement on Warm Spring Creek property R2

•Robb-Ledford WMA Aspen enhancement project R3

The commission will hear the following presentations and proposals:

•Repeal of Administrative Rule 12.6.301 pertaining to tagging of carcasses of animals

•Adoption of administrative rule pertaining to two-way communication while hunting


•Adoption of administrative rule pertaining to animal kill site verification

•2019 trapping regulations and quotas

•2019 HB 454-43 access agreements

•Nongame check-off workplan

•Biennial rule regulating use on Stimson Lumber Company Recreation Management Area

The commission will also look at endorsing the following:

•Savage FAS acquisition, R7

•Thompson River FAS acquisition

•FAS forest management projects, R1-R2

•Wild River conservation easement, R1
