The Summer Reading program continues through the month of July. Children should bring in their reading logs to earn prizes and chances to win the grand prizes. Teens and adults can also win a grand prize by contacting the library with every book read or listened to. The grand prizes this year are Kindle Fire tablets!
The Read to Me program for infants through preschoolers and their parents/caregivers meets Tuesdays at 10 A.M. Grade school students are invited to The Readers Club which is held on Thursdays at 1 P.M. Lego Club for all ages meets on Thursdays at 4:30. Harlem students may take A.R. tests at the library through August 9.
The online book club’s new book is “The Poisonwood Bible” by Barbara Kingsolver. The first questions will be posted July 12. You may join on our Facebook page.
The Friends of the Library organization is hosting a “Hawaiian Get Away” event July 17, 6 P.M. at the library. This fun evening, including a meal, is to show our appreciation to all members of the Friends of the Library and those who have made donations in support of the library. Scott Pelley, “60 Minutes” correspondent, has written a new memoir “Truth Worth Telling: A Reporter’s Search for Meaning in the Stories of Our Times.”
“Deception Cove” is by Owen Laukanen. The only thing that matters to former Marine and widow, Jess Winslow, is her faithful dog, Lucy, who helps her cope with her devastating memories of serving in Afghanistan. Mason Burke has just been released after serving fifteen years in state prison. He is now seeking to find Lucy, the service dog he trained while behind bars. When Mason turns up on Jess’s doorstep he finds her in a standoff with the country sheriff. Jess’s late husband stole and stashed a valuable package from his drug-dealer that the sheriff wants. The sheriff is holding Lucy and she will be destroyed unless the goods are found.

When Jenkins finds the head agent behind the assassinations, the eighth sister, she is not who he was led to believe.
