Congratulations to all the participants in a successful Summer Reading Program! The grand prize winners of tablets were Jacob Pursley, preschool – first grade; Juliann Tomaskie-Hawley, grades 2-6; and Dana Azure, teens and adults. Hannah and Izzy VanVoast tied to win the prize for reading the most books in grades 2-6. Oz Baker was the top reader in the preschool – first grade group. A total of 1768 books were read! Thank you again to all who supported the Summer Reading Program by giving donations and by encouraging the children to read.

The Book Challenge for August is to read a book with a question for the title. We have a selection for you to choose from. You may win a gift certificate from a local business. I hope you are keeping up on the 2019 Reading Challenge to read at least 52 books this year.

There will be no library board meeting this month.

The library will be open five more hours per week starting in September. Stay tuned for the new schedule to be announced this week on our Facebook page, website harlempubliclibrary.org, and on our doors. Thanks to everyone who completed our surveys and gave us their input.

The library is excited to announce bestselling author Jamie Ford will be making presentations on the Hi-Line in September. September 9 he will be at the Harlem Public Library for a meet and greet with a taco bar from 6:00-7:00 P.M. followed by his talk at 7 P.M. Ford's books "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," "Songs of Willow Frost," and "Love and Other Consolation Prizes" will be available for purchase and signing by the author. Mr. Ford will be at the Blaine Co. Library in Chinook on September 10 and at the Havre-Hill Co. Library on September 11. This project is funded in part by a grant from Humanities Montana, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The Book Club, a book discussion group for adults, will start up again soon. The book "Me for You" by Lolly Winston may be picked up the first week of September with the first discussion on September 9, 4 P.M. This book club kit was purchased by the Friends of the Harlem Library. Please join us!
