The library will be open special hours during the Harlem High All Class Reunion this weekend for visitors to view the displays of memorabilia and to visit with friends. Please stroll down Memory Lane Friday, August 30 from 1-4 P.M .; Saturday, August 31 from 1-4 P.M. and Sunday, September 1 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Thanks to everyone who brought in items for display.

Starting in September the library will have NEW HOURS of operation: Monday 11 A.M. -7 P.M., Tuesday and Friday 9 A.M. -2 P.M., Wednesday and Thursday 12 P.M. -6 P.M.

The library will be closed Labor Day, September 2. There will be no library board meeting this month.

The children's programming will begin again the first week in September. Story Hour (formally Books and Babies) for ages 0-5 will be held every Tuesday at 10 A.M. at the library. Story Hour will meet in Turner the first Wednesday of each month at 10 A.M. at the Big Flat Grocery. After School Squad (formally Story Hour) for elementary students meets on Wednesdays at 3:30. Lego Club for all ages is held Thursdays at 4:30. All programming is free to the public. Children who are not yet in school must be accompanied by an adult.


The Book Club, a book discussion group for adults, will resume is September. The first selection is "Me for You" by Lolly Winston. Copies may be picked up at the library September 3-6 and the first discussion will be held in the library meeting room September 9, 4 P.M. Please join us!

The library is happy to announce bestselling author Jamie Ford will be our guest September 9. There will be a meet and greet including a taco bar from 6 -7 P.M. followed by Ford's presentation at 7 P.M. His bestselling novels include "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," "Songs of Willow Frost," and "Love and Other Consolation Prizes." These are available at the library and on MontanaLibrary2Go. His books will be available for purchase and signing at the program. There will be opportunities for photos with the author. Ford will also be at the Blaine Co. Library, Chinook, September 10 and the Havre-Hill Co. Library September 11. This project is funded in part by a grant from Humanities Montana, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.


"The Most Fun We Ever Had" is a debut novel by Claire Lombardo. This story follows Marilyn and David Sorenson from the time they meet through the raising of four radically different daughters. This book explores years of troubled adolescence, infidelity and resentment and also moments of joy that make everything else worthwhile.


Local author Jack G. Young's latest work is "Final Target." Paden Evans and Davy Carlyle converge on a truck in a parking lot for two different reasons: one to deliver a package and one to kill all those in the truck. After others intervene and kill those in the truck Evans and Carlyle are left with a bag of cash which they split. Now both are targeted as loose ends whose lives are in danger.

Pulitzer prize-winning historian David McCullough is the author of the nonfiction work "The Pioneers." McCullough tells the story of the settling of the Northwest Territory by pioneers who overcame great hardships to build a community based on ideals that would define our country.

Clive Cussler has written a new Sam and Remi Fargo adventure "The Oracle." "The Shameless" is a new Quinn Colson novel by Ace Atkins.

Paul Doiron's latest thriller is "Almost Midnight."

"Mrs. Everything" is by Jennifer Weiner. Jo and Bethie Kaufman grow up in the 1950s Detroit. Jo is the tomboy and Bethie is the feminine good girl. But as they become adults their lives end up looking different from what they imagined. This is the story of two sisters who try to answer the question "How should a woman be in the world?"

Dana was the winner in the adult category.

The Book Challenge for August is to read a book with a question for the title. Let the library know what you have read so your name can be entered to win a gift certificate from a local business.
