CHS Cheerleaders Announce Sugarbeeter Chili Bowl Fundraiser

September 4, 2019

Last year's cheer squad features most members planning to return this winter. Back Row: Jase Pursley and Allyssa Schoen. Middle Row: Sally Hallingstad, Alyssa Gruszie, Shug (Liam Edwards), Raynee Hasler, and April Matkin. Front: Jasmine Klingaman and Shay Hauer.

In conjunction with the Sugarbeet Festival next Saturday, September 14, Chinook High School (CHS) will hold their Second Annual CHS Cheerleading Fundraiser: Beeter Chili Bowl at the Chinook Eagles Club. Tasting in this chili cook-off competition will begin at 4:00 in the afternoon with judging to follow at 7:00 that evening.

According to cheerleader advisor, Jerilyn Wood, all proceeds will contribute to the cheerleaders' fund to help purchase new uniforms. "Since cheerleaders are not technically considered a sport, we have to buy our own uniforms rather than being put into the uniform rotation. We are currently halfway to our goal, and we are hoping that the Chili Bowl fundraiser will get us there," Wood reported.

For those interested in making their chili preparation talents available to the scrutiny of local judges, registration forms for the cook-off can be picked up at Chinook Eagles, Havre Tire, and Chinook High School. CHS cheerleaders hope to offer a cash prize to the first place chili and a trophy cutting board to both first and second places. Anyone who samples the chili will receive a ticket to vote for their favorite chili.

For contestant information, registration forms, or answers to any questions, people are encouraged to contact Jerilyn Wood at woodj@chinookschools.org or at Chinook High School: 406-357-2236.

Wood and her squad are hoping for a crew of good cooks and other willing volunteers to judge the spicy concoctions created in determining a winner.
