September 18, 2019

The 7th Annual Chinook Rod & Gun Club Gun Show included more than 70 tables and attracted visitors and vendors from all over Montana and the northwest.

The Chinook Rod & Gun Club held its 7th Annual Gun Show at the Blaine County Fairgrounds Commercial Building this past Friday Saturday and Sunday and enjoyed one of their best shows ever.

Chinook Rod & Gun Club Board Members Darin Hamilton, Frank Pehrson, Elmer Zarn, Ralph Cross, Doug McCracken and Keith Hanson were thrilled with how well things went over the weekend and look forward to improving on things next year.

"Oh the vendors, they just love coming to Chinook," said Hanson. "We all heard from vendors all weekend long how much they enjoy the hospitality the town has to offer and how much they look forward to coming back each year."

The Blaine County Cruisers held their car show right next door to the commercial building and the combination of the two events worked really well, "It was fantastic working with them (Blaine County Cruisers, and having the Sugarbeet Festival uptown and the Sweet Memorial 50th Anniversary. It was tremendous, something we really want to build upon for next year, working with these other groups," added Hanson.

This years show featured vendors from all over the state of Montana and the northwestern United States. More than 70 tables were filled, providing attendees with plenty look at.

The Valley Clover 4-H Club again provided concessions throughout the three day event. This years show included many of the old staples but also had a few additions that seemed to really go over well, "Dr. Gibson, a local Chiropractor donated a custom made Fly Rod which was won by Chad Drugge and Stuart Riding from Spokane Washington donated a Custom Rifle made by his company, Otter Creek Premium Firearms, that was won by Colleen Mulonet," said Hanson.

Some of the new ideas added to this years show included a Plinko Game as well as a Shot Glass game, "Plinko, I'm not so sure that will be coming back," said Hanson. "The Shot Glass Game, now that was a huge success and we'll be doing that again next year for sure."

One of the goals for this years show was again to raise money for the club to continue to build on their motto and enhance the outdoor experience for local families to enjoy together. The Rod & Gun Club was also looking to start a Scholarship Foundation with money raised at this years show, "We accomplished that goal, we made enough money to start the scholarship and now we will be looking for ways to grow the funds available," stated Hanson.

"We were thrilled to have so many people stop by and check out the show this year and really look forward to growing it and improving on lessons learned this year to make next years show even better," said Hanson.
