Chinook, Harlem step on the mat this weekend to start the 2019-20 season

Harlem junior Andrew Rasmussen and the Harlem Wildcats begin their 2019-20 wrestling season this weekend at the Badger Invitational in Cascade.

The Chinook Sugarbeeter and Harlem Wildcat wrestling teams have been hard at work the past couple of weeks in preparation of the start of the 2019-20 season. The wait is finally over. The Wildcats will be at the Badger Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Cascade and the Sugarbeeters will be in Havre at the Blue Pony Invitational.

The Sugarbeeters are once again being led by long time mentors Perry Miller and Adam Tilleman and feature a roster that looks to turn in a successful season.

Senior JT Hauer won a pair of matches in Billings at the state wrestling tournament this past February earning a top eight finish but just missing out on the podium. Hauer is back and is focused on earning a medal this February.

Also back for the 'Beeters is senior Rielly Wiegand. Junior Rebecca Stroh finished on the podium as a freshman and was a state qualifier a season ago and will look to be in Billings again this year. Junior Garrett Pruttis, sophomores Drake Berreth and Wyatt Dunbar also return to the 'Beeter wrestling room this winter. New to the room are freshman Tyler Schoen and Lane Snider.


The Harlem Wildcats welcome back long time mentor Lyle Faulkinberry as head coach. Faulkinberry headed up the program for many years before stepping down a couple of years ago.

Chinook senior JT Hauer finished in the top eight at the state tournament in Billings this past February. Hauer will look for a podium finsh his senior season. Hauer and his 'Beeter teammates will begin the season this weekend at the prestigious Havre Invitational.

In the room this season for the Wildcats are seniors Tim Healy and Xavier Walker. Junior Andrew Rasmussen returns as does juniors Lance Blackcrow, Brent Cole, Josh Horn Jr. and Jeremiah Mount.

Sophomores wrestling for the Wildcats include John Hughes Jr. Michael King, Darrius Longknife, Mikkel Rider, Marty Snow, Trayce Sunchild and Cody Wiegand. Freshman out are Landen Gray and Amilia Blackcrow.


Chinook will hold its first mixer on Friday, December 13 and then they will honor their seniors at their second mixer on Friday, January 24.

The Wildcats will host their Invitational and honor their seniors the following day, Saturday, February 25.

The Northern B/C Divisional wrestling tournament will be held in Conrad on Saturday, February 8. The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the All-Class State Wrestling Tournament in Billings, February 14-15 at the Rimrock Autocare Arena.
