Montana Actors' Theatre (MAT) Offers Paid Internship Opportunities

January 15, 2020

As it has for the past several summers, Montana Actors’ Theatre (MAT) in Havre, Montana, is again offering paid internships for college students and recent college graduates. These young adults manage and direct the KidsMAT touring children’s camps and the Youth Production, which this summer will be The Wizard of Oz. Applications for this opportunity are now open and will be due by April 10, 2019.

The interns hired will oversee two established MAT youth programs: the touring KidsMAT Summer Children’s Theatre camp and the annual MAT Youth Production. Interns gain professional development, artistic opportunity, and practical experience in the performing arts with directing, stage management, lighting and sound, set design and construction, costuming, and working with youth. In addition to these experiences, MAT provides a generous stipend, housing, and travel compensation to its interns.

Applicants must be available from mid-June to mid-August. Priority is given to students attending a Montana college or university or to those who previously attended Montana high schools.

Applications can be completed online and accessed through the website https://mtactors.com/ypp/. Additional details about this opportunity are available at the same website or can be obtained by contacting Youth Activities Director, Angela Pratt at 406-945-0272 or angela@mtactors.com.

About her internship in 2019, Samantha Haan, who is from Lennox, South Dakota, and attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings, said: “Performing arts don’t fit into my life; they are my life. I have always been a performer, and I loved being able to work with new people to expand my experience.”
