The Chinook Sugarbeeter and Harlem Wildcat wrestling teams were in Choteau to take part in the annual Bulldog Invitational. The Sugarbeeters entered seven wrestlers in the tournament, five on the Varsity side and two wrestling the Junior Varsity tournament. The Harlem Wildcat wrestling team had five taking part in the Bulldog Invitational with one in the Varsity tournament and four competing in the JV tournament.

The Sugarbeeters and Wildcats are in the final stretch of the regular season as they look to fine tune their technique from all positions with the Northern B/C Divisional right around the corner.

Competing for the Sugarbeeters in the Varsity tournament was junior Rebecca Stroh at 113 lbs, freshman Tyler Schoen at 152 lbs, senior JT Hauer at 170 lbs, senior Reilly Wiegand and 182 lbs and sophomore Wyatt Dunbar at 285 lbs. Freshman Lane Snider (120 lbs) and sophomore Drake Berreth (132 lbs) competed for the Sugarbeeters in the Junior Varsity tournament.

For the Wildcats junior Lance Blackcrow took part in the Varsity tournament, wresting at 160 pounds. Freshman Landen Gray (113), sophomore Darrius Longknife (126), sophomore John Hughes (145) and sophomore Mikkel Rider (205) competed in the Junior Varsity Tournament.

The 'beeters placed two wrestlers on the podium in the Varsity Tournament with Dunbar and Wiegand each finishing fifth in their respective weight classes.

Wiegand began the tournament with a tough 11-8 loss to Orion MacDonald in the first round but bounced back with win by pin over Parker Hufnagel (Broadwater/Townsend) in 1:47. Wiegand followed that with a pin of Conrad's Bryce Lohman. Wiegand then suffered another loss by Decision to MacDonald before winning the fifth place match by pinfall over Hayden Axtman (Fort Benton/Big Sandy) in 1:59.

Dunbar won his first match of the decision on Friday by pinning Alen Nelson (Cut Bank) in 1:11. He then was pinned by Stetson LeFurgy (Fort Benton/Big Sandy) before responding with a pin of Wes Omsberg (Cut Bank) in 1:45.

Saturday Dunbar began the day by pinning Kaydon Eierdam (Deer Lodge) in 3:17. After falling to Carter Beer (Columbus/Park/Absarokee) he then earned a fifth place finish with a win by decision over Jacob Kingsolver of Shelby 5-2.

The Sugarbeeters will be home Friday afternoon and the Wildcats will host their Invitational on Saturday.
