Each year, through the American Indian College Fund, a student is selected for Student of the Year and they are awarded at the Spring American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) Spring Student Conference. This student is selected based on: 1. Their community service and volunteer work and a commitment to serve their community after graduation;2. Their grades, with a minimum of 3.00 GPA cumulatively; Full time status; never received a previous degree and an American Indian or Alaska Native.

This year the Student of the Year goes to Bryce Stiffarm, a member of the Aaniiih and Nakoda tribes. Bryce achieved a cumulative GPA of 4.00. In addition to being on Student Senate, Bryce was part of the Knowledge Bowl and the American Indian Business Leaders. He worked in the Library as a "workstudy" student. The Library Director said he was always "infused" with energy and was worked well with community members and students. Bryce also spent two days a week working with elementary students from the White Clay Immersion Language School. President Carole Falcon Chandler said she was impressed by what all Bryce accomplished and it was an honor to select him. Normally Bryce would have been honored at the AIHEC Student Spring conference that was cancelled due to CoVid. Said President Chandler, "ANC is very proud of Mr. Bryce Stiffarm and once again I am delighted to select him to represent the college as our American Indian College Student of the Year."
